    Food Travel

    A whirlwind of two weeks

My trips back East for week aren’t usually two weeks long, but this one coincided with a wedding in Baltimore and wanting to visit my parents up in New England.

    Highlights included:

    • Lunch with Dan at our favorite Baltimore Indian buffet
    • A winning Orioles game with the best friend and the baby she nicely made for me
    • Beautiful wedding ceremony with the Inner Harbor as the backdrop
    • Another fabulous dinner at The Rumor Mill
    • A Sunday afternoon by the pool
    • Reconnecting with work friends, meeting new employees whom I’d only worked with remotely to this point
    • Mitigating work stress with workouts
    • 7 hour train ride up the Eastern seacoast from Baltimore to Boston with a window seat
    • Italian food tour of the North End – contributed to 22 miles walked by Dad and I over two days
    • Sunset sail in the Boston Harbor under the Logan landing pattern
    • New and old stories about my parents and their lives pre-kids

And now, finally, being home in LA – although only for 9 days until I’m off to Toronto for a quick work trip.

Pictures above tell the story of the past two weeks better than I ever will!

    Packing for 2 Weeks Away

About a year ago I became a follower of the “capsule wardrobe” tenet and it has has greatly simplified my life. Nowhere is it more obvious than when I pack for work trips back…

    16 Years

It’s not a banner anniversary; in fact the associated year gift is wax and that’s among the more dull of the offerings. It’s not even a particularly exciting day as we have mundane chores…

No better way to start the day…

than a colorful, messy plate of eggs – salsa, tomatoes, and eggs are all from the Historic Core Farmers Market. This plate keeps me going for hours, although the giant mug of coffee doesn’t…

  • Dan's birthday cakes - Cake Fail

    I am not a baker…

WTH, people? I am completely incapable of making my husband’s yearly birthday cake. Fortunately, he swears, each year, that it doesn’t matter what it looks like and then promptly consumes it.…

    Indoor Bouldering!

There’s no photographic proof that we did this today, but it’s official. We met friends at L.A. Boulders who are seriously legit boulder-ers (is that a word?) to give it a try. Early bird (prior…

    Dog Bed Reupholstery

Roxy, our 110-lb Great Dane, has a large dog bed in the living room that she uses often. It’s 48″ around and holds two round pillows at a height of approximately 5″. The bed…

    Farmers’ Market Spoils

If we’re in town on Sunday morning, I’m at the Historic Core Farmers’ Market. Dan craves routine and I crave produce so having a regular farmers’ market and weekly purchases suits us both perfectly. First…
